match week festivities
Thursday was the big day. All of Christopher's M4 classmates and significant others met at the Cadre building downtown to open the magic envelope, but I got a special phone call from El Salvador! Chris logged onto the NRMP website while on the phone with me to reveal our new home for at least the next three years. (I say "at least" b/c I may just want to plant myself in horse country forever... we'll see how the next few years pan out)!

Saturday was the main event (well, outside of Match Day Letter Opening!): The Caduceus Ball at the Peabody Hotel Grand Ball Room. If you're like me and have no idea what a "caduceus" is, it's the medical symbol as shown to the left. Makes so much more sense when you know what the heck it is. Anyway, Christopher was still out of the country, so mom was my date. We had a blast eating and dancing with my friends... mostly M4 wives. :) I can't remember the last time I was out until midnight...
Momma and I lookin' snazzy! :)
The incredibly creative white chocolate duck dessert stuffed with chocolate mousse and topped with fruit... and swimming in a cute little raspberry sauce pond.
P.S. The Peabody Hotel is famous for their ducks who march into the hotel every morning and go for a dip in the fountain. Pretty cute idea.
M4 wives: Sarah T, Lili V, Robyn O, Katie Y, and me
CONGRATULATIONS M4'S!!!!

off to El Salvador
Anyway, Ken Nippert (from CMDA) heads up this trip every year and it's a team of about 50 doctors, dentists, nurses, medical students, physical therapists, etc. plus other volunteers. Every year lives are changed, both in the people of El Salvador and in the volunteers who go.
Please pray for travel mercies for the team and that glory will be given to God in all that they do next week. Pray for miraculous healing for those who are sick. Pray that lives will be saved (physically and spiritually!)
Chris will still be there on Match Day, so we don't get the magic envelope. Instead, he'll be checking his email and then calling me immediately. Actually, the phone call will probably come first and we'll read the email "together." =) I will be sure to spread the news as soon as I hear from Chris!!
We know that he was meant to go on this trip. Once again, God worked out all the details just perfectly and provided for us financially. Praise God, for He is good!

Avery on vacation

My baby is with his "grandparents" until we get our house sold. So hurry up and sell!!! Haha. He's just too much for some people to handle... so the best plan was to not have him in the house while it is being shown.
I miss the little booger already and he's only been gone for 4 days. The house is really lonely without him. My little sleeping buddy is missing... although he's probably happy b/c I think I accidentally knocked him off the bed Saturday night... that is another story...
Ahh! What am I going to do?! I seriously hope I'm not without him for 3 months or something. I will just die.
This picture is from Christmas- his eyes look a little crazy from the camera flash. :)
